Mobile Me… Finally
Posted 07/11/2008 at 12:01:14pm | by Lisa Weddle

The transition from .Mac to the new MobileMe service was initially set to take place on Wednesday, July 9 between 6 p.m. and Midnight, then it got pushed back a little further. Apple stated that the move would be complete by 2 a.m. Thursday morning. But many subscribers still could not access either .Mac or me.com all day Thursday. Frustrated is a mild term that can be used to describe denied .Mac users.

After a full day of being re-directed to the Apple.com/MobileMe page, members can now log-in to MobileMe to check email, iCal, and such. The site is slow and some features remain elusive. Apple has posted a statement on its support page addressing this:

Some MobileMe members may be unable to access groups.mac.com. Service will be restored ASAP. We apologize for any inconvenience.

MobileMe members cannot access the HomePage application. Service will be restored ASAP. We apologize for any inconvenience.

avatarSo you say

Its Friday at 1, and I still essentially have no useful availability to me.com. when I try to log-in about 60% of the time I get redirected to a temporarily unavailable notice, the rest of the time, I get the mobile me menu bar and an unresponsive server error message. My idisk and mail are working fine through the desktop apps, but the web portal is useless, and my web gallery is still down.

It's pretty frustrating, but mostly just because i really want to enable the push features, but apparently it wipes the current information off your phone, so i'm not going to attempt it until the site is working.

So far, not too impressed.

avatarMobileMe sucks

STILL no personal domain support for email making it utterly useless.
Syncing is VERY iffy right now. Lots of errors. You never know if a change on me.com will 'take' or not.
Worse is no way to access payment info from the me.com account page. WTF??? It's giving me an error (that I never saw in mac.com as recently as two days ago) about my credit card. But do I have any way on the me.ccom site to check my payment details? NOPE!!! :-( Also - this comment form is broken.
